Captain America celebrates 80 years since his 1941 unveiling this summertime. Part of Wonder's plans to mark the milestone include a incomprehensive serial publication entitled The Joint States of Captain America which unites Steve Rogers, Bucky Barnes, John Walker, and Sam Wilson - four heroes who have taken the pall of Captain America - embarking on a road trip adventure.

Along the direction, Steve Rogers and his allies/successors will meet much new heroes who feature been inspired by the legacy of Maitre d' America, to the level where they've taken heavenward costumes and identities directly side by side Cap. The low of these heroes is Aaron Fischer, a baffle teen WHO Acts as the guardians of LGBTQ+ youthfulness and unhoused mass.

Newsarama involved with Henry Louis Aaron Fischer's co-creator, writer Chaff Trujillo, who created Aaron alongside artist January Bazaldua, to discuss their contributions to June 30's The America of Sea captain America #1, and dig into how Aaron Fischer will lead to Chapiter's legacy - including whether atomic number 2 goes by the name 'Captain America,' and if atomic number 2'll appear again.

Newsarama: Kid, you're the co-creator of Aaron Fischer (alongside creative person Jan Bazaldua), the starting time of several new characters who will beryllium introduced to keep Captain America's 80th birthday, and the first openly gay hero to comprise part of Cap's legacy. How does it feel celebrating this milepost with this story and with Aaron Fischer in fussy?

Banter Trujillo: It feels incredible to be a part of this anniversary, and to put up to Captain America's legacy. To make a new gay hero for Marvel, one inspired by Cap, is bear in mind-blowing. Not too long since this would have got been unthinkable. Eastern Samoa a gay kid that grew au fait the Marvel Universe, I'm very excited and precise humbled to separate this story.

Nrama: Captain U.S.A's bequest goes back 80 old age at this point, hind to 1941. What's your personal account with Captain America? What does Chapiter mean to you, as a symbol and character?

Trujillo: My first interactions with Captain America were probably through trading card game I massed as a kid. Cap's design instantly catches your eye, and he was my gateway to the Avengers (and finally, the greater Marvel Existence). I knew each of his stats, all of his enemies, everything.

Comics-wise, I became a sports fan done the Ed Brubaker run of Chieftain America. Favorable the Winter Soldier storyline month-to-month was one of the most thrilling reading experiences I've ever had.

Maitre d'hotel America has a lot to carry on his shoulders. He's a projection of our nation's hopes and strengths, but he's also a living symbol of North American country history. There's a great deal of pain in that history, and that's something a character named 'Police captain USA' always has to reckon with. Steve Rogers is the best of U.S.A. He leads with his heart, and he ne'er gives up.

But atomic number 2's still human. He fails at times; He can drop off sight of what He's fighting for. or turn disenchanted. Underneath the powers and the costumes he's just a fearless kidskin who urgently wants to do the right thing.

Those are qualities that gain him, and the other Captains United States of America, thusly compelling to me as a fan, and as a writer.

Nrama: Tell Maine about the generation of Aaron Fischer. He's described as the'Chieftain America of the Railways,' a protector of unhoused people and LGBTQ+ runaways. Why was information technology important to you and Jan to make up this fiber, this way?

Trujillo: I knew a character who specifically looked out for our community, who was of our community, could be a very powerful thing. Because of that, IT was important to me that he was centered along real problems that impact poove youth.

I looked at the disadvantages the most vulnerable members of our residential area face. Chief among them, to me, is a housing crisis over the country. That seemed like a very important and worthy cause to rally Aaron about.

Jan brought a lot of talent to this protrude, and a passion for celebrating queer voices. She did the impossible by designing a look that felt equivalent it belonged alongside the iconic Captain America uniforms of the past. Jan has an fabulous style, and I think it shines through in the fib we were able to tell together.

Nrama: On that line, evidence us more about Aaron as a character. Does he go by 'Captain The States,' succeeding with his makeshift shell and Cap-inspired dress up? What do we motivation to know before we meet him in The United States of Captain America #1?

Trujillo: Aaron Fischer is a larger-than-life-hearted, queer runaway from Missouri. He's 19 long time old, he makes spontaneous decisions, he gets mute tattoos, and He cares a good deal astir people. Despite his tough exterior, he's favorable, kind, and selfless. Helium's also a trifle bit of a heartbreaker.

Aaron is not the new Captain America, rather one of several new heroes elysian away Detonator. In The United States of Captain America #1, you're going to meet him precise early in his heroic journeying. But you'll have to read the miniskirt-series to find out what happens next.

Nrama: Aaron Fischer's announcement made a huge impact happening our readers, with reactions running the gamut (the concept affected me in a very strong and coolheaded way, personally). How much of that did you expect? How do you hope fans will react once they actually annoy see Aaron in fulfi and get a plow connected his personality?

Trujillo: I am breathless away by the chemical reaction Aaron Fischer has received so far. I knew that Captain America had a great deal of fans, but never did I expect to see Aaron on TMZ! It really speaks to how omnipotent the idea of Police chief America is, and how such he means to readers all over the world. The fan art has been incredible!

In issue 1, I promise readers see Aaron's merriment and his compassion. I as wel hope they memorize more about his mission, and where he might fit into the Marvel Macrocos. Atomic number 2's a nomad in a superhero world. This is only the beginning for Aaron, and for The United States of Captain America.

Nrama: You created Aaron alongside creative person Jan Bazaldua, and the two of you are contributing his chapter to The United States government of Captain United States of America #1. How has it been working with Jan and building that creative partnership?

Trujillo: Jan has been a perfect creative partner in this. Her sequential fine art is top-notch and it has added so much character and texture to my script. Awhile, I was getting new pages in my inbox every day. It was such a treat!

I'd also like to send my love to Ding Robles, who did the well-favoured variant breed that everyone adage all over the newsworthiness. Nick is unitary of my favorite illustrators out there, and I literally screamed when I found out he would be providing a cover. His claim on Aaron is perfect.

Nrama: Speaking of which, how has it been for the two of you working aboard the creators of the main story, Christopher Cantwell and Dale Eaglesham?

Trujillo: January and I owe Christopher a huge debt for lease us be a part of this. Our function, and Aaron Fischer, directly progress off of his ideas for the mini-series. He's been big collaborative, and a classy guy passim.

Also: Being in a comic with Dale Eaglesham is a huge deal to ME. I can't believe he's drawing the persona Jan and I designed!

Nrama: The demonstrable question is, what are the odds we'll drive to see you and Jan telling more of Hank Aaro's story after his debut in The United States of Headwaiter America #1?

Trujillo: I would work with Jan again in a heartbeat! As for Aaron: I possess a weak part in my heart for this guy, but it all depends on what the readers think. There's a lot more to learn about him, and I hope those stories get told someday. For now, check retired The United States of Chieftain America!

Over the years, Captain United States has had more than his share of adventures. Take upfield on the best Captain America stories of all time!
